Summer Blogger Promo Tour: 2015 Wrap Up Post

This post marks the end of the 2015 Summer Blogger Promo Tour, and this makes me very sad. Like last year, I had a lot of fun getting to know everyone, though I wish there’d been a little more interaction in our Twitter DM! I featured guest posts from 8 wonderful bloggers over the course of July and August.

Summer Blogger Promo Tour 2015

In case you missed the posts, here they are!

Not only did I enjoy reading everyone’s posts for my blog, I LOVED doing the posts for blogs on which I was featured. My favorite has got to be the Book Guessing Game I did on Melissa’s blog. It was super challenging and a lot of fun to try to guess books based on a short description, quote, a few words, or a sample of their cover. I also enjoyed making a list of some of the bookish tattoos I’d like to get in the future on Sydney’s blog. I wrote about an object from books I’d recreate if I had unlimited resources for Mariah’s blog and my favorite TV and movie guys for Talina (featuring some gorgeous pictures of men like Dylan O’Brien and Donald Glover).

I had a few issues with the tour – mostly that I sometimes didn’t know who was hosting me or they wouldn’t tag me on Twitter, so I didn’t know my post was up, but I also had a few of the bloggers not email me until super late or want me to come up with ideas for the post they did on my blog AND what I would do for their blog, which I didn’t think was fair.

However, overall, I liked the tour and finding some new bloggers to follow! The Summer Blogger Promo Tour is a great way to get your name out but also to spread the love for some fellow book bloggers. Make sure you follow our lovely hosts The Book Bratz (on their blog or Twitter) and keep your eye for sign-ups for next year!

Summer Blogger Promo Tour: Jillian from Jillian’s Books

I’m super sad to say today is the last Sunday of the Summer Blogger Promo Tour – well, other than next week’s wrap up! I’m featuring the lovely Jillian from Jillian’s Books. She’s going to be doing the GIF Tag – I sent her a list of ten books that she had to pair up with a GIF of her choice. Check out her picks and then make sure you go say hi on her blog! **Fair warning: one of the GIFs she chose is one of the freakiest things I’ve ever seen in my life**

———————–

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Stephen Chbosky)
The Perks of Being a WallflowerI only read little parts of the book, but I watched the movie and liked it. Does that count?

Throne of Glass (Sarah J. Maas)
Throne of GlassI absolutely LOVED Throne of Glass, and I really admire Celaena Sardothien for being brave and completely badass, instead of being the weak and reckless female that many people believe women to be. She literally proves that even girls can be braver than they are!

The Raven Boys (Maggie Stiefvater)
The Raven BoysSo I’ve been seeing this book a lot and I’ve never read a Maggie Stiefvater book before. BUT I WANT TO. Everyone has read it except me. And this is one of the books she’s written that I need so badly. SOMEBODY SHIP ME A COPY. (Please?)

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (Becky Albertalli)
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens AgendaI don’t really read these kinds of books most of the time, but the positive reviews I’ve been seeing lately kind of make me really curious! And I’m quite interested to know why so I might pick this up one day, if I have the chance.

A Court of Thorns and Roses (Sarah J. Maas)
A Court of Thorns and RosesALL THE HYPE EVERYWHERE IS DRIVING ME NUTS. I WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT IT. 😦 😦

Anna and the French Kiss (Stephanie Perkins)
Anna and the French KissOh gosh. I’ve never read this book, truthfully, but it’s been in my TBR for more than a year now. I just never get the chance to grab a copy. But I know how swoony the book is, so I’m prepared for it. Yep.

Second Chance Summer (Morgan Matson)
Second Chance SummerTHIS BOOK DESTROYED ME. I tried willing myself not to even cry at the end, but I can’t. The tears kept coming. I wanted to hate this book so bad for making me feel depressed the rest of the day, but it’s too beautiful! And sad.

The Lightning Thief (Rich Riordan)
The Lightning ThiefThis is one of my most favorite childhood books ever, and I grew up reading this while I was in my preteen years. It brings so much memories! The Lightning Thief — and all the characters in it — became my best friends the whole time I was reading it. It makes me want to hug this book and its characters for accompanying me through.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsEnough said.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
The Statistical Probability of Love at First SightThis has also been in my TBR for more than a year, but I’m broke from buying new releases most of the time. Any book donors? Hm?

TOLD YOU THAT CRYING BABY GIF WAS FREAKY. I’m sorry! Make sure you go say hi to Jillian on her Blog or Twitter!

Summer Blogger Promo Tour: Talina from Sassy & Dangerous

Today is the seventh Sunday of the Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by The Book Bratz! I’ve got Talina from Sassy & Dangerous on the blog today telling us about her “High Fives” – her favorite book, genre, author, blog(s), and bookish merchandise. See what her high fives are and then go check out her blog!

Summer Blogger Promo Tour 2015

——————————————–

Hi everyone! My name is Talina and I am a book blogger over at Sassy & Dangerous. I’m so excited to be participating in this Summer Blog Tour Promo! It’s such a fun way to connect with other bloggers and readers that have the same interests as me…books! I’m also very excited that I get to stop by Stefani’s blog because I’ve been following her for awhile now! So without further a due, here are my top bookish high fives!

1. What is your favorite book?

You have no idea how hard of a question this is! I have so many books that are my favorites, that I just can’t choose one. Instead, I’ll choose five! 😉 Sacrificed by Emily Wibberley, Grace and the Guiltless by Erin Johnson, Loop by Karen Akins, Kitty Hawk and the Hunt for Hemingway’s Ghost by Iain Reading and Velvet by Temple West! Trust me, if you guys haven’t picked up these books yet, I suggest you do because they are AMAZING!

2. What is your favorite genre?

Like the first question, this one is a little bit hard because I like a lot of genres and I usually jump from one to another. At the moment, I am really loving the contemporary/mystery genre!

3. Who is your favorite author?

Ahhh! Another hard question! Will it ever end?! I can’t choose one favorite author because I have so many on my list. A few of them would have to be, Katie McGarry, Kiki Sullivan, Courtney Cole and Erin Johnson! I have many, many more, but I don’t want this to be a two page post. 😉

4. Who are your favorite bloggers?

I have so many bloggers/blogs that I love to follow and check up on. I’m very shy when it comes to talking to other people, but in the past year, I’ve met some awesome bloggers that I love just love to stalk on their blogs! A few of them would be, Kaitlin @ Reading is My Treasure, Tika @ Fangirl Confessions, Erin @ The Hardcover Lover and Blessie @ Mischievous Reads! I have quite a lot more bloggers that I love to visit, but I can’t list them all because there are too many!

5. What is your favorite bookish merchandise?

My favorite bookish merchandise would have to be tote bags! I love tote bags, especially when they have bookish sayings on them. My favorite tote bag would have to be my Fierce Reads one! I carry that everywhere I go!

So there you have it! My top high fives! What are your top high fives? Feel free to stop by Sassy & Dangerous because I love meeting new bloggers and readers! Also, don’t forget to stop by my blog so you can read all about Stefani’s favorite tv/movie heroes!

It’s another Sunday of the Summer Blogger Promo Tour! Today I’ve got a post from Mariah at A Reader’s Adventure. Both of us love to travel, so Mariah is going to tell us about some of the places in YA books that she’d like to visit – real and fictional. After you read her post, make sure you go stop by her blog to say hi!

—————

Hi I’m Mariah from A Reader’s Adventure and I’m so excited to be stopping by Stefani’s blog to talk about some places in YA that I would like to visit.

– Tortall from the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce. This world is so rich and wonderful that I would love to experience it!

– Lenid or post-Leck Monsea from Graceling and Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore. Another rich, dynamic world that I would love to experience. Also visiting the Dells from Fire would also be epic. All those gorgeous creatures and feats of engineering and medicine? It would be so cool!

– Any of the towns from Sarah Dessen’s books. They really have a life of their own in the story and I would love to get to know them even better.

– Hogwarts obviously.

– Paris as seen in Anna and the French Kiss. That book made me want to visit Paris in a hard-core way.

Those are just some of the places I would love to visit! Thank you so much to Stefani for letting me drop by!

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Macaroni and Cheese all day everyday

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?

In all honesty I’d just stay here in New York. I have access to the biggest concerts, festivals, sporting events etc. Plus everything is a short drive or train ride away. I absolutely love New York and even if I move somewhere else for a short period of time I know for a fact I will always come back home.

If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you’d buy?

I would buy a house here on Long Island with a big backyard and a nice kitchen and bathroom (Jesus Christ I sounded so mom like right there)

What three things would you take with you to a deserted island?

Books, Booze, and a radio

Why did you start blogging?

I really wanted to connect with people who have the same love for books as I did. I don’t have many friends who read but now that I have started blogging I have so many people I can just talk to and fangirl with and I have never been happier.

Favorite blogging moment so far?

When I posted my review for Illuminae and Jay Kristoff tweeted me saying that he loved my review and he’s happy I enjoyed the book.

Let’s just say I almost died from a heart attack

Whelp looks like that’s it! If you guys feel like invading my privacy and asking more questions you can go ahead and tweet me @sydsaurus or comment on my posts on www.sydsaurus.wordpress.com!

Hope to see you there!! Till next time all you reading dinos xo!

Today is the second Sunday of the Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by The Book Bratz! I’m really excited to have Melissa from The Reader and the Chef on the blog today because she’s talking about the food from YA books that she wishes she could actually eat. Be prepared: you’re about to get hungry. Check out her post and then make sure you go check out her blog!

YA Foods I Wish To Eat In Their Fictional Worlds

Hi everyone! My name is Melissa and I’m “the reader” at The Reader and the Chef!

I’m pretty sure that you can already tell from my blog’s name that I LOVE food. I’m quite good at eating it too (not the cooking, I’m only decent – my sister is the Chef at my blog).

Food sometimes plays an important role on books. They sometimes make important scenes memorable. And because my sister and I love food,  I’m always on the lookout for these little details just so I can make my sister do them for me and I can stuff my face pretending I’m somehow part of those precious moments.

However, wouldn’t it be too darn awesome that instead of only eating all that delicious stuff mentioned inside the books, we could eat it in the actual place they were mentioned in? Huh!? HUH!?! I know I do!

So that’s why, for my post, I want to share with you the FOOD (mostly desserts) that I wish to one day (it will happen, I’m sure!) eat exactly where the characters enjoyed it. I might also have some other hidden purposes. (Note: Not all food/dessert pictures are mine, I borrowed a few because they look so great!)

Dauntless Chocolate Cake

Divergent

Yup. My first choice would be THE Dauntless Chocolate Cake. I would looooove to have a piece of this yummy chocolatey goodness right beside Four/Tobias. It’s his favorite so OF COURSE it is my favorite as well. But first, I need to find a way to get to Chicago and then somehow get inside of Dauntless… Or we could eat it in the Ferris Wheel. Seriously, I wouldn’t mind.

Kiwi Pie

Lola and the Boy Next Door

This is something that seems more possible in a not-so-distant future. Kiwi Pie at Lola’s house in San Francisco. Bonus points if Cricket Bell is there. With an apron. Serving me pie. Lola and the Boy Next Door is one of my favorite reads and Cricket is one of my favorite book boyfriends so I really, really want to feel as close to him as possible. We actually already made our own version of this pie, but we didn’t eat it in San Francisco. Boo!  😦

kiwi pie

Mushroom Ravioli

Twilight

Yes, I was a Twilight fan back in the days. Actually, I’m still pretty fond of the books and if someone offered me the chance to have Mushroom Ravioli  at Bella Italia in Port Angeles I would totally take out my I ❤ Vampire t-shirt and wear it while eating that deliciousness. Please don’t hate me.

Strawberry Tart

The Selection

I need to try that Strawberry tart mentioned in The Selection! This tart is everything guys, EVERYTHING. Okay, not really everything, I just want an excuse to get close to Prince Maxon or at least to eat something in a CASTLE. I also want to be a Princess. :)))

Strawberry Tart

Lamb Stew with Dried Plums

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I’m not so sure if I would like to eat this in the Capitol (Panem) but I AM curious to try it out. On my own terms and not be it my last meal before the games because I’m pretty sure I would be the first to go. Sad, sad, truth. I could also take some Pita bread made by my Peeta.

Lamb Stew

From Popsugar

Turkish Delight

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

I dare you not to think of Narnia every time you hear someone mention Turkish Delight! I’ve been craving this delicious looking turkish sweet since Edmund tried it in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (movie version). My sister just made me a batch but I don’t have a wardrobe and grandma’s is just a normal one sooo…. can someone lend me their wardrobe to Narnia? Pretty please? 🙂

Turkish Delight

*****

The list could go on and on, but these are the top places I would love to visit someday to eat their respective “popular” dishes. I could have mentioned Harry Potter too but I thought it would be pointless since my Hogwarts letter is about to get here any day now & I’ll get there soon enough. (Ha. I wish.)

unfair gif

So tell me, have you ever wished to eat something in their fictional world or is it just me? 😮

Summer Blogger Promo Tour: Ri from Hiver et Cafe

Summer Blogger Promo Tour 2015
Last year I had SO much fun with the Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by The Book Bratz, so when sign ups opened for this year’s tour, I HAD to sign up! Every Sunday until the end of August, I’ll be hosting someone from a different blog so you can get to know them! Today the tour kicks off with Ri from Hiver et Cafe. She’s talking about real or fictional places she’d love to visit. Read her post and then go check out her blog!
————
Hi! I’m Ri! I run the blog Hiver et Cafe! Here are the Top 5 places fictional or non fictional that I’d absolutely LOVE to visit.
Greece & Percy Jackson series
They’re both kind of related. While none of the Percy Jackson series actually takes place in Greece, the follow up – Heroes of Olympus, does take place(ish) in Greece. This series is one of the reasons that I’m so into reading and also the reason for my love of the Classics and mythology. It’s because of this series that I’ve always wanted to go to Greece and to really see the ruins myself. Also, have you seen the pictures of Mykonos? The ocean and the whole place just looks so incredibly gorgeous!Parthenon_540Hogwarts
I mean. Who doesn’t want to go to Hogwarts? Though preferably any time that is not in the same timeline of the books, because I’d love to not get caught up in the war. And also I’m a Slytherin, so there’s that. I just would love for magic to be real.
IMG_1677
Prague & Daughter of Smoke and Bone
Daughter of Smoke and Bone is one of my favourite series and the first book starts out in the city of Prague. The way that Laini Taylor describes Prague is just so beautiful that it makes me really want to visit. I’m also really into old architecture and photography so it sounds like a really gorgeous city to document and photograph.

Charles Bridge morning

London & Every Word
London is just one of those places that I’ve always wanted to go. There’s so much history and awesome architecture!
63730-640x360-tower-bridge-cam-640
Seoul, Korea & Hello, I Love You
Korea is one of those places that I’ve been really interested in because I enjoy Kpop and the culture there. I would absolutely love to go and visit some day and experience the country in person rather than through video or through novel.

Thank you so much Stefani for having me on your blog! 🙂

Summer Blogger Promo Tour: Wrap up!

You might have noticed that I participated in the Summer Blogger Promo Tour this summer. I had guest posts from eight bloggers throughout July and August, and I really enjoyed getting to know each one. Today is the last day of the tour, and I’m going to wrap up what happened!

Summer Blogger Tour

In case you missed them, here are the posts:

Ink on the Shelf: Jen detailed a super awkward encounter with a gym and some cheesecake.

The YA’s Nightstand: Mily told us about her which UK to US cover changes she likes or doesn’t like.

SJ Bouquet; SJ told us her favorite first lines in books.

The Book Bratz: Jessica and Amber, the hosts of the SBPT, let me interview them about their book boyfriends, favorite villains, what which character they’re most like.

Dana Square: Dana told us about her favorite and least favorite book to movie adaptations.

Endlessly Reading: Andrew gave us a list of his favorites: book, song, dessert, literary hero, and more!

Ana Loves…: Ana did the 7 Deadly Sins Tag!

The YA Club: L.S. Murphy of the YA Club told us why her favorite book means so much to her.

I also enjoyed getting to do guest posts for each of these blogs. I think my favorite was the book club review of Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour that I did with Mily at The YA’s Nightstand. I also enjoyed doing the Book Cake Tag for Ana at Ana Loves…

I definitely plan on staying touch with all of these lovely bloggers on Twitter and by checking out their blogs. And I hope to do the Summer Blogger Promo Tour next year! 🙂
