Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. Today’s theme was:
Ten Characters Who Are Fellow Book Nerds (love reading, are writers, work at a bookstore, etc.)
I couldn’t come up with a list of ten bookish characters, so instead, I have a list of six characters and a quote that describes their bookishness.
Celaena Sardothien, Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
“Libraries were full of ideas–perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.”
Charlie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
“It’s strange because sometimes, I read a book, and I think I am the people in the book.”
Liesel, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
“When she came to write her story, she would wonder when the books and the words started to mean not just something, but everything.”
Hermione Granger, Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
“I’ve learned all of our course books by heart, of course, I just hope it will be enough – I’m Hermione Granger, by the way, who are you?”
Matilda, Matilda by Roald Dahl
“These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: You are not alone.”
Skeeter, The Help by Kathryn Stockett
“I always order the banned books from a black market dealer in California, figuring if the State of Mississippi banned them, they must be good.”
Who are your favorite bookish characters?
We quoted the same lines both from TPOBAW and Matilda! And I would’ve picked Hermoine too, I almost did, but alas, I haven’t read the HP books. LE SIGH. The rest of the quotations are on point!
You could’ve always just added her at the bottom as a bookish character you know but haven’t read? 🙂
Oh, You just made me thing about Matilda, Matilda, Matilda!!! I want to see the Broadway play so bad!!! Maybe i’ll go for my bday 🙂 Amazing list hun xoxo
I didn’t even know Matilda was a play! How cool is that? You should definitely go!
I still need to read Throne of Glass … especially now that I’ve read (and loved) A Court of Thorns and Roses.
You do! I think you’ll like it! Celaena is amazing.
The Help is one of my favorite books, so I had to list it, too. The audio is one of the best audios I’ve ever listened to.
Same! I listened to it as an audio and loved it!
I had some problems with this TTT topic too, but I like the twist you took on it. My first thought when I saw this tag was Calaena, even though I didn’t finish Throne of Glass. I had Skeeter and Liesel on my list too!
Yay! I’m so glad Skeeter has been on several lists today. 🙂
It was tough to hit 10 on this one. I love that you included the quotes! I need to read Wallflower. I’ve heard such great things about it.
Yes! Perks is one of my favorite books. I’ve read it like 10 times. 🙂
Hermione and Matilda haha, happy to see them on almost every TTT today
The Perks of Being a Wallflower I haven’t read but looking forward to it
This list was made for Hermione and Matilda. Lol.
Great list! Hermione and Matilda both made my list this week, too. 🙂
They are the ULTIMATE book nerds. 🙂
For some reason, I can’t comment on your post, so this is what I was trying to say: DEE FROM RAT QUEENS. I completely forgot about her!! Great choice!
I definitely should read Throne of Glass, it sounds amazing! Haven’t read Matilda yet, but I like the movie (it’s my fave when I was a child!). So agree about Hermione!
Great list 🙂
Throne of Glass is amazing. Highly recommend if you like fantasy and badass heroines. 🙂
Great list here and some of my favs, for sure. Woohoo, for our list matching some. I cannot believe how many I forgot though that I love and didn’t include! And others that I couldn’t really figure out a way to include because Blogger was being a brat for me last night.
My Top Ten List ~ Happy Reading!
I’ve been going through some TTTs and I can’t believe how many I forgot either! Thanks for stopping by. 🙂
I love that you included quotes – great minds, right? I’m currently re-reading Matilda to my daughter and I agree that she is the ultimate bookworm!
Aw. How’s your daughter liking Matilda?
Oh, she loves it! This is the second time I’ve read it to her, plus she’s listened to the audiobook multiple times. She’s obsessed with the film too. 🙂
