Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. Today’s theme was:
Top Ten Goals/Resolutions For 2015 — bookish, blogging or otherwise!
Happy [almost] New Year, everyone! I don’t usually make new year’s resolutions, but I’m going to list a few bookish and a few general things that I hope to do this year.
Bookish:
- Read one book every two months that I wouldn’t normally read – I work in a library, but I can’t usually recommend romance-y type books to my patrons because I don’t read them, so I want to read books by authors like Debbie Macomber or Susan Wiggs and other books I wouldn’t normally pick up. Expanding my horizons.
- Read at least 100 books, including novels, comics, children’s books.
- Write two reviews a week on my blog. This really isn’t for anyone but myself. I like having a consistent blogging schedule, but I’ve been sort of spotty on book reviews. I hope to do a book review (book, audiobook, comic, children’s book, etc) every Monday and Friday.
- Read at least half of the books on my TBR that I already own. I have three full bookshelves full of books I haven’t read. I want to read at least half of them.
- Read an entire shelf on my TBR pile before I buy more books. I tend to buy books even when I have way too many I already haven’t read, so I want to try to read some before I buy more. My own book buying ban. We’ll see how it goes.
General:
- Go to at least three places I’ve never been before. I am planning to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter next year. I’ve been to Orlando, but not the Wizarding World. Yet.
- Make more.
- Paint more.
- Write more.
- Stress less.
What are some of your resolutions?

I think we can all relate to the purchasing of too many books! Good luck with your goals for 2015!

Thanks, Emily!
Yes, I am the same way with the books! I have so, so many unread books, yet I keep on buying more! Why!? I even have at least 20 pre-ordered. Stop the madness! And of course, stressing less is on mine too 🙂 It is so, so necessary (and overdue!), so hopefully 2015 will be our year! Good luck with all these, hope you achieve every one!
It is definitely my goal to go to Hogwarts in 2015 too! I like your goal of reading outside your comfort zone, I need to do that too!

Good luck on your resolutions! I need to expand my genres too. I especially want to get on the graphic novel train – I want to read The Walking Dead!
You should totally read The Walking Dead comics! They are absolutely amazing. So so good.
Where are you thinking of visiting in the world? Sounds like it’ll be an amazing journey regardless of where you go!
Cheers,
joey via. thoughts and afterthoughts
Probably won’t make it out of the country this year, but I’ve been to several other countries already, so that’s alright. I want to visit more places in the US that I’ve never been. The Wizarding World of HP for sure. Would love to be able to visit Seattle – I’ve always thought I’d love it there. I would also like to go somewhere where there’s mountains. I’m not 100% sure of anything yet. I just love to travel. 🙂
I can’t wait to hear about your trip to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! (I did the studio tour in London but I really want to go to the park, too!) I need to work on my already-owned books as well! Good luck 🙂
I plan on going before it gets too hot, so hopefully before June. We’ll see! Oooo. You know, I lived in the UK for a year and never made it down to the studio tour. I should have.
I’m excited to see pictures! 🙂
Stress less, stress less! I went for 100 books this year and am sitting on 99 now with only about 40 pages left in one of them. I was going to cut back to 80 – 90 for 2015 since I seem to have a lot of very long books coming up, but after going to the library today for one book and leaving with five, maybe I’d better keep it a 100, lol. You’ll appreciate this – it’s like the two librarians were having a contest to see who could make me check the most books they recommended. No joke, each one would talk about a book and then run and grab it off the shelf for me.
Haha! They probably were. That sounds like fun. I might have to do that with my branch manager – see who could get the most books checked out! 🙂
Have you read any Colleen Hoover yet??? Please, please make her your romance pick for number 1!! Lol as for number 5, I have a similar goal in my list… we’ll see how that one goes… Lol R x
My TTT: https://confessionsofabookgeek.wordpress.com/2014/12/30/top-ten-tuesday-my-blogging-and-bookish-resolutions/
I haven’t read any Colleen Hoover yet, but she’s definitely an author I want to try this year.
That’s IT!! I will torture you (at least weekly) and comment like a demon about Hoover until you have read her. 2015 is THE year!!! R x
Should I start with Maybe Someday or Ugly Love? Let me know and I’ll request it from the library. Also, I sent you an email earlier. 🙂
Ahhhhh!!! Lol Don’t do anything just yet!!!! I shouldn’t have been so enthusiastic… wait 5-8 business days before making a decision… 😉 R x
Awww! Yay! ❤
You know the minute you go on a book buying ban is the time you will start finding all kinds of great books for really cheap. 🙂 Great list!
Haha! So true. But I did the Book Outlet’s Boxing Day Sale so I should be good on my need to buy cheap books for a while. Lol.
My weakness is weeded library books and garage sale books that are like a quarter. Who can pass up a book for that price.
Try working in a library! Lol. It’s really hard to not bring a stack of books home every day.
I do and so feel you there. I love new book day, but means there are so many more books I want to read. Next year I am going to have a month to get caught up on all the library books I haven’t read yet.
You know, I suck. I’m pretty sure you’ve told me you work in a library at least five times. I KNEW you did and I still said that. I’m sorry.
Oooo. That’s a good idea. Want to do a library-book buddy read? Not necessarily read the same books, but I’d be interested to see what you find in your library to read!
Lol, no biggie. I often forget who was who or said what online. Great idea, library-book buddy read. I’ll send you an email, after I finish up my T10T list, and we can work out the details to do it sometime next year.
Yay! Looking forward to it!
Love your goals! Especially the one about reading half of your TBR list. That is such a good goal.
The wizarding world of Harry Potter is great! I went this year and loved it. 100 books? You’re ambitious, good luck! X
So far this year I’ve read 153 books (including a few children’s books, lots of comics volumes, and lots and lots of novels). I read pretty quickly, so 100 isn’t too ambitious for me! 🙂
I can’t wait for the Wizarding World of HP!!!
Happy New Year!
Love your resolutions. Although I didn’t put it on my list, I would love to expand my reading horizons as well. Your general resolutions are wonderful as well (especially stress less– I hear ya there).
Stress less is probably the hardest resolution to fulfill, but I’m going to try. 🙂
That’s one of the reasons I am going to try to learn yoga and continue with my walking regime. Exercise, I’ve found is one of the best ways to help me relax and stress less.
I agree. I used to love yoga, but my arthritis developed last year so it’s not quite as easy for me anymore. But I’ve been considering trying again but mostly just doing the stretches because I loved that.
