Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. Today’s theme was:
Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2014
I read so many amazing authors in 2014! I had a fun time compiling this list. I can’t believe I just came across these authors this year. It feels like I’ve always loved them. 🙂 All book titles are linked to my reviews.
Stephanie Perkins – Anna and the French Kiss
Morgan Matson – Since You’ve Been Gone
Oliver Jeffers – The Incredible Book-Eating Boy
Robert Kirkman – The Walking Dead [volume 1]
Marie Lu – The Young Elites
Adi Alsaid – Let’s Get Lost
Jennifer E. Smith – This Is What Happy Looks Like
Stacey O’Neale – Mortal Enchantment
Rainbow Rowell – Attachments
Lori Rader-Day – The Black Hour
What new-to-you authors did you read in 2014?
Stephanie Perkins, Morgan Matson, Rainbow Rowell and Jennifer E. Smith were all new to me authors in 2013, and they’ve fast become favourites – I love all their books (that I’ve read so far…). I have Let’s Get Lost sitting on my shelves waiting to be read, and I also I really want to read The Young Elites 😀
Great list!
I love those authors, especially Stephanie Perkins and Jennifer E. Smith. And Morgan Matson. I’ve really only read one book by Rainbow Rowell so I can’t say if she’s a favorite yet. I hope you enjoy both of those!
How did I forget Morgan Matson for my list?
I was so confused with Rowell…I have no idea if i read Eleonor and park last year or 2014!
🙂 Hehe Great list.
I still haven’t read Eleanor & Park, but I plan to read both it and Fangirl soon.
I came across Jennifer E Smith for the first time this year too! Have you read The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight? It’s my favorite by her. I also didn’t realize this year is when you discovered Stephanie Perkins, for some reason I thought you’d read her stuff before!
I haven’t read Statistical Probability yet. I’ve only read The Geography of You and Me and This Is What Happy Looks Like, but Statistical Probability was on my Christmas wishlist, so hopefully I’ll be getting it.
Nope! I just discovered her this year. You probably thought I’d read her before because of how obsessed I am. Lol.
I love your entire list! For real! I am really looking forward to more from Ali, for sure! 🙂
Thanks for stoppin’ by! Have a great week!
Yay! Do you mean Adi? He’s awesome. Definitely looking forward to more from him.
Hope you have a great week too!
Rainbow Rowell and Stephanie Perkins are 2 authors on my HAVE to read list! I know their books are amazing and I plan on getting to them ASAP. Great list!

You’ve got to read Stephanie Perkins! She’s wonderful. I’ve only read one by Rainbow Rowell, but I enjoyed it.
Thanks for stopping by!
So many great ones! You have a ton of contemporaries on your list that I’ve been wanting to read such as Since You’ve Been Gone and Let’s Get Lost. I just discovered Stephanie Perkins this year as well and her books are super cute.
Here’s my TTT
Both of those books are pretty great. Since You’ve Been Gone is what brought me back to reading contemporaries this year. It had been a long time since I’d picked one up.
Thanks for stopping by!
Yay Rainbow Rowell! Attachments is one of my favorite books ever!
I love Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl. I need to reread because my boyfriend gave it and Eleanor & Park as a birthday gift to me.
I’ve only read Attachments. I really need to get around to read her others. I’m pretty sure I’ll love them.
Thanks for stopping by!
Stephanie Perkins and Rainbow Rowell are my favorites … and I definitely need to get my hands on a Morgan Matson book!
If you like Stephanie Perkins, I’m pretty sure you’ll love Morgan Matson. I loved Since You’ve Been Gone. It’s what got me into reading contemporaries again.
Marie Lu and Rainbow Rowell are two I really need to get to in 2015!

Yes! I think you’ll really like The Young Elites!
I’ve only read Stephanie Perkins from your list! I loved that series so much- especially Isla and Josh’s story 🙂
My favorite is Lola and Cricket (mostly because Cricket is my favorite of the three boys, and I feel like I’m a lot like Lola). If you like her, I think you’d like Morgan Matson too! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
Oliver Jeffers is incredible! I like The Incredible Book Eating Boy but particularly love Lost and Found.
I love every book I’ve read by him, and I’ve reviewed most of them on here. My reviews are mostly along the lines of “OMG! I love Oliver Jeffers! His books are so cute. You should all read them.” Lol. 🙂
I love that you included Oliver Jeffers! I should make a point to include more children’s authors on my lists.
I try to do keep a well-rounded blog. I know most of my followers don’t read children’s books, but I love them and I want to tell people about them. 🙂
Yeah, I included Ian Fleming on my list because I LOVED Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – I’m going to talk about it on next week’s TTT. 😀 I’ve also started tracking the picture books I read on Goodreads, so that should help me keep track of things better for these lists.
I love the cuteness of Rowell and Perkins. Some days, that’s exactly what you need, a bit of cotton candy to balance out the dystopians, zombies, black humor, and dark fantasy.
I completely agree. They are like a sweet palate cleanser. 🙂
Marie Lu made my list too! I actually read only new to me authors this year, so this list was really hard!
Oh, wow! Bet that was a super hard list to put together. Heading to go check it out now!
