Today’s topic for BookBlogWriMo is “Where You Read.”
I prefer to read curled up on the couch with a cup of coffee, but like I said in my How I Read post, I can pretty much read wherever I am. Standing up at the kitchen counter. Lying in bed. Sitting on the porch. I don’t really like reading in bed because it makes me too sleepy and I only really get a few pages in, but as of late, I’ve been using up that time as well, as it helps clear my mind and settle me.
If I’m really into a book, I could read in the middle of a crowded party or at a huge football game or alone in my living room. However, I find it difficult to concentrate on a book in public if I’m still trying to get into it.
Preferred places to read are my couch or on the porch early in the morning during a cool fall morning with a cup of coffee in my hand. I live on ten acres of land, so it’s nice and quiet and calm.
I’ll say that if I had all the money in the world, this is how I’d read (except I’d be next to a fireplace with a cup of coffee and a puppy in my lap):
Where do you like to read? Can you read anywhere like me? Link me up to your BookBlogWriMo post if you’re participating.

First off, that beautiful chair in the picture looks so amazingly comfortable. I think I’m in love. As for reading I can’t focus at all when people are talking. Other noises are fine but hearing someone talk takes my complete attention off of my book and on to them. I wish I could immerse myself in books when in public places. My favorite reading spot is my couch also, coffee or tea in hand. 🙂
I’m like you. I can (and do) read anywhere at any time. And ditto reading in public places. Even if it is a quiet waiting room, like at the doctor’s office while my neighbor is getting her treatment, I prefer either a book I’m well into or a series book where I don’t have to worry about no knowing the characters.
If I wake up in the night for more than a couple of minutes and know I won’t go right back to sleep, I read. Usually I can then sleep within half an hour or so. If it stretches longer, I rejoice in the additional reading time! I’m retired, so have the luxury of sleeping later on most mornings if my body wants to do so.
