Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. Today’s theme was:
Top Ten Books/Movies To Read Or Watch To Get In The Halloween Spirit OR Top Ten Characters Who I Would Totally Want To Be For Halloween
I’m going to do movies because I’ve already planned a Halloween Reads post for Friday. So here are ten of the movies you can watch to get you in the Halloween spirit. I’m not a huge fan of scary movies, so most of my choices won’t be scary. They also might not necessarily be Halloween-themed movies, but whatever.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (this one is a favorite of mine; it’s perfect because you can watch it for Halloween or Christmas!)
Edward Scissorhands
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Corpse Bride
ParaNorman
Coraline
Beetlejuice
And because ABC Family shows them pretty much all month and if I could, I would watch them 24/7 – the Harry Potter films
What about you? Which movies get you in the Halloween spirit?
You’re right–we do share many similarities! I thought Charlie Brown, too, but I actually don’t think I watched through the entirety of that movie…only parts of it. Thinking about the Peanuts gang is definitely nostalgic though.

Wuuut? You need to remedy that. All the Charlie Brown movies are great.
These are all fantastic choices! I think Paranorman is a really great, really underrated movie- I was glad to see it on your list. Also, Edward Scissorhands was a great choice!
I agree with ParaNorman being underrated. It’s such a great movie. I recently had a ParaNorman movie night at my library and the kids (and adults) loved it! 🙂
I LOVE Hocus Pocus! I reckon I’m going to have a rewatch soon, it’s been a good fifteen years since I’ve seen it which is just a crime. Great list 🙂
In the States, we have this channel called ABC Family, and during October they play Hocus Pocus pretty much every day! 🙂 You should definitely rewatch.
I love that ABC Family aires most of these movies several times this month, as well as lots of Harry Potter I’ve probably watched Hocus Pocus and Corpse Bride three times each recently. Beetlejuice is another favorite. I also watch the original Halloween movie at least once, a movie that really scared me as kid and now gives me nostalgia.
I completely agree! I have ABC Family on constantly. 🙂 I love their Halloween movie marathons.
I’m not a huge fan of the original Halloween movie, but I agree that it mostly makes me nostalgic. 🙂
We do have lots of similar ones! 🙂 I’m so glad I’m not the only wuss out there! Lol I like to say it’s because I have such a vivid imagination, with proper scary movies (not psychological thrillers, I quite like those) I don’t sleep for weeks!!

I love psychological thrillers too! There are some scary movies I like, but I prefer these. 🙂
Give me Hocus Pocus anyday – freaking love it!
Hocus Pocus is the best movie! SO GOOD.
RIGHT?! It’s stellar.
Yes, Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin is a classic! I always loved the old B&W Frankenstein and Dracula movies, but I’ve seen them so many times that I rarely watch anymore. One of my ‘newer’ all-time favorites is the old Salem’s Lot. I love that book and the old movie starring David Soul. I think originally it was a two-part mini-series.
Oooo. Salem’s Lot! That’s a good choice. And of course classic movies like Frankenstein and Dracula are great.
The Rocky Horror is always a winner!
Yes to HP, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Beetlejuice. I’d add Arsenic and Old Lace, Murder by Death, The Fly (1958 version), Them!, and anything by Hitchcock. Can you tell I’m into classic films? 😉
Hitchcock! Good choice!
Hocus Pocus is definitely a favorite of mine!
