Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. Today’s theme was:
Top Ten Underrated Authors or Books in X genre.
However, today I’m going to list seven books and three authors that I think are underrated in general, no specific genre. What books or authors do you think are underrated?
Underrated Books: (titles are either linked to Goodreads or my reviews of the books)
The Bling Ring by Nancy Jo Sales
Samuel Blink and the Forbidden Forest by Matt Haig
Rivers by Michael Farris Smith
The Passage by Justin Cronin
John Dies at the End by David Wong
The Universe Versus Alex Woods by Gavin Extence
Catcher, Caught by Sarah Honenberger
Underrated Authors: (linked to Twitter)
Matt Haig (I know I already mentioned one of his books, but I love his work)
Jennifer E. Smith (Okay, not that underrated but I just want her to have more attention)
Ian Rankin (he’s definitely not underrated in the UK, but I need more Americans to read him)
What books or authors do you think are underrated? Link me up to your TTT below if you participated!

I don’t think I have read any of these, but I absolutely MUST check out John Dies At the End! Sounds so… different! So does The Passage. Actually, I think I’ll be checking out quite a few of these! Great list 🙂
Yay! Both of those are really, really unique. John Dies at the End is pretty much different from anything I’ve ever read. The Passage is a completely new and unique take on vampires. Highly recommend both. 🙂
I read The Stastical Prob. and liked it a lot. I haven’t read her other books yet, but I met her when I was in New York and I’ve been wanting to read them ever since. Thanks for stopping by my list 🙂
She’s so awesome! I really enjoyed This Is What Happy Looks Like. I also liked The Geography of You and Me. I just need to read Statistical Probability. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by mine!
I’ve been REALLY curious about the Bling Ring for a while now, so thank you for featuring it this week as it’s reminded me to add it to my TBR!
Yay! You’re welcome. It’s fascinating – full of interviews, facts, case studies, and insights into our society’s obsession with fame. I really enjoyed it.
Thanks for stopping by my TTT earlier! I went with in general too. Jennifer E Smith’s book have been on my TBR list for a while. I just haven’t gotten around to any of them yet. I know I’ll enjoy them. Great list!

I haven’t read any books you mentioned, but I Fully Agree about Jennifer E. Smith! I adore her writing

I would recommend starting with The Falls. It’s in the middle of the Rebus series but it gives you a good sense of the books and it is AMAZING. If you like crime fiction, check it out. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Rachel! Heading to check out yours now.
I want to pick up something by jennjfer e. Smith, which book would you recommend?
This Is What Happy Looks Like. 🙂 I also enjoyed The Geography of You and Me. I haven’t read her most known one (The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight) yet. Happy is just wonderful.
Love The Passage! and Love Jennifer E. Smith! Excellent choices, mine are here http://videoclimbersvariations.blogspot.com/2014/09/top-ten-tuesday-underrated-books.html
Yay! More fans of The Passage. And Jen. That makes me happy!
I’ve been meaning to read The Passage, I’ve heard good things about it. Maybe once the third book is out I’ll binge all three. John Dies at the End is also on my TBR, I’d like to read it then watch the film.
John Dies at the End is super trippy, just so you’re prepared, but it is SO good.
