Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. Today’s theme was:
Top Ten Book Characters That Would Be Sitting At My Lunch Table (you know…back to school theme)
This is such a fun idea! Also, a hard one. Hmmm. Here we go:
Hermione Granger, The Harry Potter series – Bookish, smart, determined. We’d definitely be friends.
Cricket Bell, Lola and the Boy Next Door – smart, kind-hearted, lovely. When I told Stephanie Perkins this past weekend that Cricket was my favorite boy out of the three, she said, “It makes me so happy when people tell me Cricket’s their favorite! He’s the most kind-hearted out of the three.” That made me think that not that many people tell her he’s their favorite (most people probably like St. Clair). I adore Cricket. Also, I’m going to pretend Cricket is single for the purpose of this list. 🙂
Blue Sargent, The Raven Cycle books – she’s just awesome. I think we’d get along. Also, maybe she’d bring Gansey around. Haha.
August Pullman, Wonder – I don’t care what you look like. What matters to me is how you treat people. August is a great human being and he’s also quite funny.
Patrick, The Perks of Being a Wallflower – Do I really need an explanation for this one? I do? Well take this gif:
Craig Gilner, It’s Kind of a Funny Story – I think we’d relate to each other really well.
Izabel, Saga – she is a BAMF, and she’s a ghost. I want to be friends with Izabel.
Luna Lovegood, The Harry Potter series – super weird, but also really loyal and kind. She was one of the characters I always really related to in the books.
Carson Phillips, Struck by Lightning – absolutely determined to do whatever it takes to get out of his small town. He’s also extremely passionate about the things he loves. He’s a bit of a jerk though sometimes.
Frank Porter, Since You’ve Been Gone – He’s a leader and everyone thinks he’s nerdy, but he just wants to be normal. He’s super sweet, complex, and well-rounded.
So that’s who I’d want at my lunch table, if, you know, I was still in school. Who’d you want to sit with you? Link me up to your TTT!
I totally included both Blue and Gansey on this list, I love these characters so much it’s ridiculous.
SAME! I just love them so much. I am thinking I’ll have to do a reread soon since The Raven King publication date was pushed back. I can’t wait that long to visit these characters again.
You know, I think it was pushed back a little bit more because now it says the release is March 1st instead of in February. A reread sounds like a fantastic way to torture ourselves before Maggie kills us with the release of the last book.
NOOOOOOO. 😦 So sad. I actually chose TRB for my first teen book club read at my library. 🙂
That should be fun. I imagine I might scare a few people with my enthusiasm if I was in such a club.
Hahaha. I’m a little worried about that too. I tend to get a little overly passionate about books I love.

I really want to read Since You’ve Been Gone, I may have to bump it up my queue – I’ve heard so many good things! And I absolutely adore Cricket Bell, he is BEAUTIFUL 🙂
I loved Since You’ve Been Gone. It’s one of my favorite contemporaries, I think. If you like Cricket, you’ll probably like Frank. 🙂
I just love Cricket.
Both Hermione AND Patrick made my list! He would be HILARIOUS at the lunch table :’)

PATRICK IS AWESOME! I’m so happy to hear so many people loving him. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Katrina!
This was a tough one for me too. Partially because my brain pretty much shut off for the day like 6 hours ago and partially because how do you pick from so many people you love? I picked Hermione too! I think she’s probably on a lot of lists. Also, I can’t believe I forgot about Perks of Being a Wallflower and Luna Lovegood. I almost put Neville Longbottom on my list as well, but I already listed three people on one number haha!
I think Hermione is on ever list I saw today. Lol. She’s the perfect friend for bookish people.
Aw. Neville! He’s a good one too. 🙂
I skipped this TTT. Since I didn’t go to a traditional school, I honestly had NO idea how to pick. Reading this makes me realize I should’ve done a “Study Group” instead of lunch table (I had plenty of experience with those in college). Hermione could lead my study group! 😀
Yeah! Who would be in your study group?
Hmm, well 10 is a lot for a study group, so I’ll give you my top 5.
Hermione, for sure.
A young Hercule Poirot could help us with order and method (I considered Sherlock Holmes but Poirot is nicer 😉 ).
Foxface from The Hunger Games because she’s good at thinking outside the box.
Minho from The Maze Runner is brilliant AND funny (plus eye-candy!).
Jane Bennett from Pride and Prejudice because she would be great at keeping everyone happy and working well together.
MINHO! What a great pick! Also, are you as excited as I am for the movie?? I can’t wait!!
I’m very excited for the movie! My husband is taking me for our 14th anniversary. 😀
Wooo! I cannot wait! We’ll have to discuss. 🙂
Damnit! I forgot about Patrick! He can sit at my table also 🙂
Right?! Patrick is amazing.
Oh yes you can definitely join your lunch table with my lunch table. Hermione and Patrick are inspired choices!
Yay! Our table is where all the cool kids will be. 😉
I had Hermione and Patrick on my list too – I always find these topics so much trickier than the normal kind!

I think so too! I’m happy to see Patrick on someone else’s list! 🙂
