Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’m Not Sure I Want to Read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. Today’s theme was:

Top Ten Books I’m Not Sure I Want To Read (books you may have bought but aren’t sure if you are into it anymore, books you wanted to read but heard mixed things about, hyped books you aren’t sure about — basically any book that has you going, “TO READ OR NOT TO READ?”

The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy1 – 3. The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy by Jenny Han

I bought this trilogy for $10 at Wal-Mart because of all the Jenny Han hype I’ve been exposed to since starting my blog. But then I read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, which I wasn’t a huge fan of. I’m a little worried I won’t like these books either.

4. Fiend by Peter Stenson

I got this book through Blogging for Books, which I’ve realized is kind of a crappy deal for bloggers as you are required to review the book. I’m pretty sure I still want to read the book, and I will probably review it, but I will not keep using that program.

5. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

A friend sent this to me as I LOVE Scotland and I’ve been wanting to readOutlander the book, but I started it and just couldn’t read it. I love the idea but I don’t like the execution. I’ll probably try again one day.

6. When You Were Mine by Rebecca Searle

Bought this at Barnes & Noble for like $3 because it looked cute and I was in the mood for a cute book. But I have so many other books that I’d rather read. It’s just been pushed down the list.

7. Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

Same as #6 for this one.

This is Life8. This is Life by Dan Rhodes

Got this book for free when I was interning at Canongate. I still do want to read it, but it’s not a priority.

~

That’s all I got. I try not to get books that I don’t really want to read. I even looked at my TWO TBR bookshelves (yes, two), and I definitely wanted to read everything else on them. So only 8 this week. Oh well.

  1. Outlander has been on my to-read list for ages, but it’s so long and I’m not sure if I have the time to dedicate to reading it quite yet…. I know so many people that have raved about it though, so I may just cheat a little and watch the tv show first.

    Happy reading! 🙂

  2. I haven’t read When You Were Mine by Rebecca Searle, but I recently read Famous in Love written by her and I adored it so much that I’m now vowing to read everything she’s written. I’m with you on the Outlander books. And now that it’s a TV show I feel like it’s the “cool” thing to read.

    • Famous in Love? I haven’t heard of that one. I’ll definitely have to check out When You Were Mine now! If I end up not liking it, at least I didn’t spend a lot of money on it. Haha.
I know what you mean. I think Outlander is going to fall victim to the hype monster.

    • It’s an interesting concept, and it is being made into a television series, so obviously some people like it. Haha. I just couldn’t get into it when I tried.
Thanks for stopping by, Katrina! Heading to read yours now.

  3. With all of the hype regarding the Outlander TV show I’ve been thinking about picking the book up a lot as of late. As for the Summer series by Jenny Han, it’s my all time favorite contemporary series. Those were the first YA contemp books that I ever read and I still rave about them to this day.
